Instructions for Growing Gourd Seeds
Step 1: Soaking the Seeds
Soak seeds in warm water with a ratio of 1 hot : 3 cold for 6–10 hours. Some hard-coated seeds should be soaked for 12–24 hours (change the water twice a day), then rinse and incubate in a damp cloth until they sprout. Once sprouted, transfer them to seedling trays (small seeds don’t need to be wrapped; just plant them directly after soaking).
Soft seeds: Strawberry, leafy greens (cabbage, lettuce, etc.), flowers, celery, tomatoes, peppers, carrots, etc.
Hard seeds: Melon, watermelon, eggplant, okra, luffa, spinach, amaranth, etc.
Step 2: Germinating the Seeds
Prepare seedling trays with cocopeat or loose fertile soil.
Sow seeds 0.5–1cm deep depending on the type. Keep the soil moist. Place the tray in a location with indirect sunlight for 6–12 hours/day (avoid strong midday sunlight). Once seedlings reach 7–10cm, with 2–3 leaves, they are ready for transplanting.
Step 3: Care
Water to maintain moisture 1–2 times/day.
Add fertilizer if needed to promote strong growth.
